A trip to New Plymouth

Okay, so here's my recollection of the events, im sure I didn't pick up on all the exciting stuff that happened, so you may want to request a rundown from other people as well. Its 9am on Monday, so Im feeling pretty awake and in good condition to tell this tale, and Im going to try not to write the rest of this in the Gonzo Journalism, Hunter S. Thompson style of the introduction. But if I do lapse into that, then its understandable, the first thing I did this morning was read some of his book, and the last thing I did last night was the same.

Anway, my alarm roused me at 6:30am followed quickly by Keren-Peta knocking on my door to ensure I was awake. Milf had come home at 3am that morning from wishing Karina a happy birthday, and 3 hours later had woken up to get ready to head off to the wedding. I'd managed to hit the hay at about 11pm, but had read some H.S.T for a bit so probably didn't get to sleep before midnight, but 6 hours sleep is plenty these days, or so I hear. I manage to shower and pack my gear in good time, and at 7am Joe Melser arrived to pick us up. This seemed extraordinary at the time, but I later realised that he was staying at Sally's place and that Milf must have cracked the whip to get him out the door in time.

The first couple of hours of the trip consisted of a search for a bakery to get a bacon & egg pie from. It wasn't until Bulls that we found one open, but it looked horrible, so KP and I went across the road and partook of some Subway instead, which was allright, but not the best I've ever had. KP had been sleeping a lot of the way, in a rather strange manner, her violin case was propped up vertically in the middle of the foot/leg part in the backseat, and her elbow rested on that and then her forehead rested on the hand. It looked strange and uncomfortable, but Milf managed to sleep for quite some time.

The trip was uneventful, if long. We got messages when we neared New Plymouth to meet at McDonalds at noon, but Sally and I had to purchase cards before then, as we had both forgotten to do so until that day. We met everyone but Josh, Chris & Awhi at McD's, then after having a lunch that upset more than one stomach, Joe and Sally and I went to find a deserted street to change in, I was the most respectable of the lot, as I just had to put a shirt on, but Joe had to change his trousers and Sally had to put a dress on. I looked allright I think, and after the changing had been done we decided to go kill some time at the church before entering.

Some days things

Yesterday I was planning on getting a whole heap of things done, but it didn't really work out that way, and Im still not entirely sure why, I guess if I had put my mind to it a bit more I could have got a lot of the things done, but after a couple of setbacks I pretty much gave up on it, which isn't terribly wise really, not the way to get lots of stuff done in life anyways.

So now im trying to enrol into my Massey course online, but there's all sorts of weird things happening and im getting emails from some Massey helpdesk person which I can't reply to because yahoo seems to be having troubles. When I press reply I get a window to type an email in, except im not actually replying to anything, it is somewhat frustrating.

Also its going to be even more of a delay getting my dole organised, dole for being a student who can get the allowance this year that is. The delay is partly my fault, partly my dads fault, and partly WINZ fault. You see Milf should have applied for this a lot earlier, but I didn't realise I could. And then I should have sent the correct form up to dad to fill in, when instead I instructed him to pick it up off WINZ. WINZ didn't have the right form, but he didn't realise and let me know, so he filled it out and sent it down to me only for me to discover its the wrong form and I have to send him up the right one afterall.

That was the main frustrating thing. Also I found that I need these things verified by a JP but I dont know where you find JP's and then I found one, except he isn't going to be there until Friday morning, which is a bit annoying because I wanted it all verified and sent away yesterday, thats why Milf decided to enrol online, but I dont even know if that has helped matters at all yet.

Then I helped Toby move into his new flat, but I got tired and my back is still a bit sore from helping chop down trees, I must have done something wonky to it. His new flat is quite nice and im a little bit jealous, mainly because I will have to look for a new flat soon and its going to be rather stressful I think because flats in Wellington are getting very expensive and its notoriously hard to find good ones at this time of the year in any case.

Not a lot done

Well, Josh demanded an update to the site, and really, I should have updated it long ago, but I pretty much just got sick of writing with no purpose and for no audience, in fact, Josh will probably be the only person who reads this, but then at least he will have got his wish.

Since my last post here I've moved into a new flat, which was after a period of homelessness which I spent holidaying around the north island and then staying at a friends lovely parents house. Also spent some time watching the cricket, but now my only goal really is to work enough each week to pay the rent, and hopefully the food, and if all is going absolutely marvellously well save up a bit of cash, or spend it on beer.

Thats pretty much it, I could tell you about the holiday, but it wasn't all that exciting, in fact i've done very little exciting in the break from this site, which probably explains why I haven't posted anything here yet, sorry about that.

See you in a couple of months!! Actually, I'll try and update once a week for Josh, so see you in a week.

Hawkes Bay

I was going to write a glorious recap of the Promotion-Relegation game between Hawkes Bay and Bay of Plenty detailing all the exciting action as Hawkes Bay cruised past BoP and into the 1st Division, except HB lost. I have decided that instead of doing that recap, I will drink some beer instead!

I went and saw a movie yesterday, it was called Reign of Fire which I found surprisingly good, so much so in fact that I have decided to do a review of it for here, but I wont do it today, and I'll be very hung over tomorrow, so I may not do the movie justice.

Tonight is my flat's halloween party, I hate theme parties, and I hate dressing up, so Im not going to dress up. I will however drink copious amounts of alcoholic beverages, so my party will be just as good even though Im not getting into the halloween (AKA : HORRIBLE AMERICAN TRADITION) spirit.

Oh, one thing about the game this afternoon, that I believe I predicted in my article on the inherent unfairness of the promotion-relegation game (although I probably forgot to add this and thus didn't predict it at all) was that there was barely anyone at the game. And it rained, you wouldn't see Hawkes Bay rain on the day of such an important game, dammit.

Picnic + Pets

Im sure not everybody appreciates the personal dreck that details what I've been up to, and that's why I've been keeping it to a minimum. Of course, there may only be 5 people visiting this page regularly and therefore I could be wasting my time either way. In any case I promise I will find something to write about by tomorrow, whether it be a review of one of my favourite CD's or I even go out of my way and buy a new CD to review, there will be something, rest assured.

Seeing as it was a very sunny day today, I got Joy to pick me and Milf and Emma up and take us out for a picnic. We went to Eastbourne via Petone Pack and Slave.

I must say Im disappointed in the beaches of Wellington, sand is a definate must, and its hard to find much of it here. The other bad thing were the bloody seagulls, trying to steal our food the whole time they were. I also got told off when Milf thought I had hit one of the seagulls with a stone, but I hadn't, I promise.

Then we went to a petstore to see the puppies, except there weren't any puppies there which was stinky. We did get to look at some kittens, which we found out a little later cost $595 each and they had just come to the store from the airport. Who the hell would pay $595 for a kitten? WASTE!

I've decided to come up with a list of CD's that I would like to buy sometime soon, and why wouldn't I want to share that with you? The trouble is that I can't remember the names to most of them, I just know that the band or artist has put an album out, or is about to, so anyway, here they are..

Bleeding, Drinking, Games, Im actually most boring

I never realised how simple giving blood was, and all my fears about my blood being abnormal were completely unfounded. My blood pressure is decidedly average, and so are my iron levels. This means, according to the person who checked me out that me feeling tired all the time is actually just my imagination.

The only scary part about giving blood was when somebody passed out just behind me, but that was after I'd already bled enough anyways, and they were getting ready to unplug me. Im hoping they'll send me something telling me what my blood type is, because i have no idea what it is, and I guess its a useful kind of thing to know. Although I guess not knowing what blood type I am means that my blood type probably isn't anything special.

Anyway, nothing exciting has happened to me, so let me launch forth into tales of drunkenness once again, but before I do, here's the first instalment of the drinking game anthology I am bringing to my dear readers, all 4 of you.

Dont get sick like I did, its not very nice

I got very sick on Friday. It was during the Tall Blacks game where they beat Puerto Rico, which should have made me all good and wonderful, but instead it made me all sick and bad. I had a migraine/headache thing from then until yesterday, and a fever and all as well.

It was so bad that I decided to pike on the party at my house on Friday and went to bed at 8pm. Except I couldn't actually get to sleep, even after everybody had left lots of hours later. This was indeed a bad thing.

So on Saturday I went down to the chemist after slee made me go and I got some Nurofen for the migraine and some Dozile to make me go to sleep. On the way home I saw Bic Runga flying!

Milf was filming a video or something in the middle of Cuba St opposite Krazy Lounge and Jam Hair. Its quite amazing the amount of people required to do this, Im sure there were at least 30 people there. So yeah, Milf flies in a video coming up, actually, its more like levitating, but never to mind.

Anyway, I felt pretty crap for most of the rest of Saturday, and as a pointer to how bad it was, I couldn't hardly bare to eat anything. I went to bed at a sort of normal time on Saturday and the dozile thing mad me sleep easy except when the nurofen wore off later on I woke up again in the middle of the night and because dozile isn't actually sleeping stuff I couldn't get back to sleep again.

On Sunday night I had it all sorted out though and took some nurofen before I went to sleep and I was all asleep until 7 the next morning, when I awoke feeling much better.

So I didn't do anything exciting in the weekend. I even missed my friends last performance with his band Bleakhouse. This is very sad as I would have loved to gone, but my brain was a little addled on Friday because of the migraine and I forgot, besides which my head probably would have exploded if I had gone anyways.

Who would have thought

Well well well, its been quite a while since I posted here, and thats mostly because I have had an incredibly boring time lately. You would think being holidays and all that I would have gotten up to something interesting, but in all honestly, for the great majority of the last two weeks I did nothing of note at all.

Saturday, however, was a completely different story, because on Saturday, I went to the Wairarapa. It was the first time in ages that I'd been out of the city, so that was the start of the goodness, but I guess I better explain a little bit before I get totally carried away here.

Way back earlier this year when I went on my South Island trip (which many of you will know nothing about) me and one of the people with us Joe decided to do some fishing, so we bought these little lines to dangle off a wharf or something. The only thing was that we never actually went fishing, and ever since then we've been promising to go, and the Saturday just been was the day that we went.

But we didn't go fishing straight away, Joy drove out there in her little car, and i was amazed at how much better her driving was compared to the South Island, it must just have been that Milf wasn't used to the beast of a ute that we were driving. I always forget how long the drive out to the 'wraps' is, but after an hour or so we got to Joe's house where Paul his father paints and does pottery and stuff.

It is such an amazingly beautiful and peaceful place out there, its the sort of place that once you are at you don't want to leave. Anyway after we arrived we got given a hot drink. That's another great thing about being there, you are always drinking coffee or tea or something, wonderful!

Anyway, Joy really only came out to do some pottery, so thats what we did first, Joe is also a potter, and he is very good. He tried to explain to me how to do it all, but I was a bit of a shambles for quite a while, luckily you can't really ruin clay that much, so all the stuff ups I did weren't too serious. I made a couple of goblet kind of things, I also made a really awesome bowl, but that fell apart for no good reason a little while later.

Holidays are nice to have

Yay for university holidays, but boo for work that requires doing during them. Aren't the Warriors great? If I lived in Auckland and had lots of money I would become a member and go to all their games and stuff, it'd be totally sweet.

Even Wellington pulled out a win this weekend in the rugger so it must be some kind of omen of good favour. Except I didn't win Lotto. I only bought a ticket because I thought it was a $6.5m draw, and I am going to win one of them, except the first division prize (with powerball) wasn't even $6.5m, so that was why I didn't win it.

Milf is up in the 'tron for the next week and a half so its not so much fun in the city. I guess I can fart in our room as much as I like for the next week as long as I give it enough time to air out before Milf gets back. It also means I can leave my computer on all night, but I actually have no reason to do so, so I probably wont.

Good news, I have a free webhost lined up for this site, which will be awesome, I can't decide whether to keep this cgi script I have to run this place or whether to upgrade to some PHP shiznat that needs mySQL and all. I quite like how this script generates individual html pages as well, im not sure why.

One of the Josh's I know reckons I'll redesign this site within a month (god within looks weird, I think I must have spelt it wrong) so give me ummm, bad karma if you think he's right, or good karma if you think I wont redesign. That assumes people actually visit this page, haha.

I am longing for summer right now, I will hopefully get to play cricket for my friends social cricket team out in the Wairarapa and hopefully I will go fishing lots and summer is just a good time all round really, its got sun, and you dont have to wear shoes because your feet aren't cold.

I think I should start exercising and getting fit, but its so hard to be motivated when its winter. Especially because I hate exercise for exercise sake, I have to be doing something, like kicking a ball around or whatever.

A break in my day

I said I was going to be very busy, and very busy I have been. Although it hasn't been all bad, hopefully a cheque for $300 odd will be arriving for me soon, which I will put into my bank and then spend spend spend. On you folks too, as I'll buy some good webhosting in NZ and even buy a domain name. Although I have no idea what I want yet, as I've changed my mind a dozen times. I thought about www.dot.gen.nz (say that out loud) or maybe www.2cool4.school.nz but Im not sure that they are what I want. I also have other things that I need to buy (as opposed to frivolous expenditure like all that is) and that is shoes and maybe a gym membership and maybe trousers. I think I need to get another job.

The data-entry one is all finished now though, and it was tiring and boring, Milf never thought sitting in front of a computer could be that bad, but when you aren't playing games or doing something interesting like designing a website or writing emails or some other thing and you do that one boring thing for hours on end, it gets horrible.

Still have lots of work to do, and haven't had much time to do anything interesting. Still angry at the pricks for not giving me a job after giving me a job. The Yippekayay weekend was pretty cool, and it was nice to see the Warriors win, oh, and the All-Blacks too, not.

I really dont have much more to add, but just thought I'd better do another post before it got to be a whole week without an update. So here it is, whoop.

As promised

To be honest, Milf doesnt watch all that much rugby anymore, mainly because its boring seeing your team lose all the time - be they all black or wellington. In fact, if I was given the choice between watching rugby or watching the Warriors play I would take the Warriors all the time. I really like league at the moment, although I hardly ever watch that either, Im thinking if I ever get fit again, I might join a social league team (if such a thing exists).

Regardless of all that I was watching the rugby on Saturday night, mainly because I wanted to see if I could be proved wrong. I didn't think the All Blacks would win, and I didn't think they were a good team. You see the fact of the matter is that any rugby team that has Caleb Ralph as a wing preferred over Jonah Lomu is just asking for trouble. Sure, back in the 80s you could look like Terry Wright and get away with it, but now whenever I see Caleb Ralph running into a tackle I have to turn my head away, in case he breaks in half or something.

I do realise why he is in the team instead of Jonah, its because of this defensive doodacky that Mitchell and Deans are going for. But if you ask me, there's no point in defending 0 points, and the fact of the matter (remembering that Im no expert) is that tries win rugby games. Just look at the game on Saturday, Australia outscored us (try wise) 3 - 1, admittedly one of those was disallowed, but if you saw that decision you would understand that Australia really deserved the try and the win in the end.
